Every sport, every hobby, every interest has stories which can be used to inspire us to work harder, be more true to our highest selves, and fervently strive to become more remarkable human beings.
Sadly, that's not what I'm here for.
That being said, even Jesus had his fish stories!
Here's some quotes from mortal dignitaries--
On human nature:
Creeps and idiots cannot conceal themselves for long on a fishing trip.
~John Gierach
On spirituality:
If fishing is like religion, then fly-fishing is high church.
~Tom Brokaw
On productivity:
Work: A dangerous disorder affecting high public functionaries who want to go fishing.
~Abrose Bierce
And of course,
On propriety:
Trout fishing. One must be a stickler for proper form.
Use nothing but #4 blasting caps, or a hand grenade, if handy, or at a pool well-lined with stone one blast from a .44 magnum will bring a few stunned brookies quietly to the surface.
~Edward Abbey
